Mayumba National Park

What to Bring?

Travel Light!

It's best to pack light for an excursion to Mayumba, as you are limited to 20 kg of baggage if flying, and if taking the road, being able to carry all your belongings yourself can greatly facilitate your journey. Try to keep it to one backpack, stashing a rolled up tote bag inside to fill with souvenirs when you visit the Artisans' Market on your way back through Libreville. Clothes-wise, UNDERPACK! You'll be glad you did.

You may want to pack a tent and other camping gear if you plan on spending your nights on the soft, sandy beaches. A sturdy, collapsible umbrella is a great thing for protection on sunny and rainy days, and although there are pharmacies in Mayumba, it's a good idea to bring a travel-sized medical kit with basic first aid supplies and medicines. You can buy bottled water in Mayumba, but it's still nice to have a portable filter and your own personal water bottle.

Put essentials in your carry-on bags, especially valuable items like medicines, electronics, and photographic equipment. It is not uncommon for checked baggage to get delayed or even lost, so make sure you have a change of clothes in your carry-on luggage as well. Better yet, put everything in your carry-on and skip the check-in altogether. Trust us on this one.
